WaterAid brings clean water to the world
Sometimes when I give my kids a bath or run water into a pot to cook something, I remind myself how fortunate we are to have clean water so easily. Some people in the world don’t have that luxury. Heck, my everyday shower would probably be considered a spa treatment in a developing country.
WaterAid is an organization that helps bring clean water to areas where lack of clean water is causing disease or hardship. Since 1981, WaterAid has brought sanitation and safe water to the poorest communities. Something like 800 million people in the world don’t have access to clean water, and 2.5 billion don’t have sanitation facilities.
Unfortunately, that means that 2,000 children can die each day from diseases related to lack of clean water and sanitation. Millions of children and adults miss school or work because they are sick.
So WaterAid works in 27 countries to prevent disease and death. See the people whose lives have been changed on the WaterAid Facebook page.
