Jaxson’s Ice Cream celebrates 55 years, teams with National Deli to help kids

Jaxson's is famous for the "Kitchen Sink"

South Florida readers, if there is one thing you must do this weekend, it’s get yourself and your family to Jaxson’s Ice Cream Parlour for its 55th Anniversary Celebration, Saturday, Nov. 5, 7-10 pm.

I remember the first time I went to Jaxson’s as a kid. Relatives thought it was the best place ever, with its old-timey look and feel and delicious ice cream and sandwiches. I ordered a sundae and couldn’t finish it — it was heaven but so huge!

Jaxson's Ice Cream Parlor celebrates 55 years in South Florida

Jaxson’s is a fixture in South Florida, for sure, and to celebrate 55 years, the National Deli food truck and Nat Deliman character will be there for the hot dog eating contest. (Contestants have been chosen to participate in the contest, and one will win a 42″ flat-screen TV.) Go for the live entertainment, silent auction and great eats.

The best part is Jaxson’s and National Deli will donate all proceeds from the event to Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital (a place near Nat Deliman’s heart — he visits the kids there sometimes!).

National Deli all-beef hot dogs, mustard and other tasty items are now available at more than 200 Publix locations throughout South Florida.

Want to win a $10 Publix gift card to buy your own National Deli hot dogs? Please comment with how you like to eat your hot dogs. Have you ever won a hot dog eating contest? What’s the most hot dogs have you eaten at one time? Do you plan on going to Jaxson’s this weekend? I’ll randomly select a winner on Monday.

Hotdogs are just one of those American foods. I’ll eat them anywhere and just about any way. Saurkraut, relish, mustard, ketchup, cheese, salsa, coleslaw, onions. Like I said just about anything. Love ‘em.

I have always enjoyed hot dogs beginning during childhood sharing hot dogs with my family to roasting hot dogs over campfires with the Girl Scouts to serving lots of hot dogs when working as a teenager as a carhop in a small midwest town. Through the years. I have consumed many hot dogs with family and friends always choosing a hot dog when cooking on the grill. I feel hot dogs are comfort foods for me, as many warm memories are stored in my heart of fun moments that included sharing a hot dog…but favorite memories are sharing hot dogs with Daddy when he bowled at the bowling alley with me as a child and when attending a Chicago Cubs baseball game with Daddy & family at Wrigley Field!
I have never won any Hot Dog eating contests, but I love my hot dogs with coney sauce in a warmed bun or with just ketchup!
And, Jaxsons is awesome! Needless to say, sharing a delicious hot dog at Jaxsons followed by a hot fudge sundae shared with my granddaughter is a favorite memory of a fun day!

I like a plain old hot dog with ketchup and mustard and maybe sometimes a little cheese. :) I’ve never done a hot dog eating contest, and I don’t think I ever could. I’ve only ever had 2 hot dogs in one sitting and that was more than enough!
